A printmaker and squeegee painter from North East England.
With a strong attraction to the abstract beauty of gestural mark making and layered textures, combined with found marks and patina. I work across both large and small scales pieces. I allow the physicality of the process to shape the outcome. Chance is central to my approach, allowing materials and substrates to dictate the results, I use my tacit knowledge to respond to my squeegee, the medium, the surface and my own movement. Collaborating with chance allows me to push each piece toward a visual rhythm that isn’t predetermined.
Ultimately, my work is a negotiation between control and surrender, precision and accident. Each piece becomes an exploration of movement, material, and the transformative possibilities of my process led practice.
Alongside my studio practice, my current academic research examines the craft qualities of digital textile print. Investigating craftsmanship and the dialogue between digital and analogue processes drives my experimentation, prompting me to question where craft, authorship, and material knowledge reside within contemporary textile practice.
